Greetings! My name is João Paz, and I'm a music teacher, jazz guitarist, and composer based in Lisbon, Portugal. First, there was grandma's piano and cousin's guitar. My dad bought me my first guitar at 11 - and I still have it, a 1974 Brazilian DiGiorgio! I started with rock bands in the 80s: concerts and TV shows in Portugal and Spain, resulting in a recording contract for our band's original material in 1991. I studied classical guitar and have a professional degree in violin. I turned to Jazz around 2000 and studied with André Fernandes and at local jazz schools.
